Branson Roadtrip Spring 2012, Issue #004 --Branson Update
February 02, 2012
Hi

We've had a few obstacles but we're up and running again and ready for 2012. The website has mostly been a one man show but there is a passion behind it, for Branson, the Ozarks and the road-trip. As we add assistance in the future it will be with that passion in mind

It's been a mild winter in Branson so far. Temperatures have mostly been in the 50's. February begins the gradual build-up to the season with some show openings and special productions. Then in March it picks up considerably more with a host of activities and openings

If you haven't looked at it yet, the Branson 2012 page on the website gives a rundown of location changes of performers and shows. There is also a list of new shows and performers coming to town in 2012. There will be more changes and additions in the weeks to come

If you are a fan of Andy Williams, you have probably heard of his diagnosis of bladder cancer. We hear that he is responding well and is planning to return for performances in the fall and at Christmas. He will welcome a host of guest stars to his theater in 2012 to celebrate his 75th year in show business

We will begin the updating of the show schedules on the website in the coming weeks as more of the definite listings become available. We will also be adding more road trips, day trips, scenic drives and such throughout the year. If you come to Branson and enjoy the freedom of the road you might want to take a morning or a day to wander around the Ozarks. It's beautiful part of our country, with great people and a fun way to spend a few hours

I also want to highlight our new festival pages. If they are not on the website when you read this, they will be soon. This is more than a Branson festival list, although it is that, but we have listed festivals in the extended area, mostly within a couple of hours drive from Branson. Ozarks festivals are a great tradition and they fit in to road trips so well. Branson area festivals are on their own page and the rest of the festivals are separated by season. Take the time to look through the list because there are some unique celebrations that will add a special dimension to your trip to Branson

You will notice a variety of festivals in the Mountain View, Arkansas area. Mountain View is the center for mountain music and their get-togethers are an Ozarks tradition so you might consider adding a day for a trip to see what this wonderful town offers. The next "day trip" project for the website will be Mountain View, Arkansas. The quickest way is 113 miles and it is a great trip but the best route is 132 miles down one of the best 2-laneroads in the Ozarks

2012 is also Branson's centennial so there will be centennial happenings throughout the year. When you are in Branson, you might want to check out the history museum that will be opening April 1 in Historic Downtown Branson

If you are planning to be in Branson in April the "See the World in Branson" event begins April 1 and lasts till May 6. Businesses throughout the area will pick a country to represent during the festival showcasing over 30 countries.

"See the World in Branson Music Fest" highlights the festival April 25-26 at the Welk Resort with fun activities, a music festival, along with over 40 international booths in the marketplace. Many Branson shows will perform at the Music Fest

And to top it off the annual "World Fest" at Silver Dollar City runs from April 7 to May 8 and features performances throughout the park from all over the world
